1. Muslim prayer

Peace be upon you

Transliteration : As-salāmu ‘alaikum
Meaning : “Peace be upon you”
Answer: Wa ‘alaikum as-salām (And peace be upon you too)

2. Main prayer (Salat)

Muslims perform five daily prayers (Salat), at prescribed times. Each prayer consists of several readings from the Quran and special recitations.

A fundamental part of every prayer:

الفاتحة – Al-Fātiḥah (The Opening Chapter of the Quran)

Tiếng Ả Rập:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment . You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger, nor of those who have gone astray.

Phiên âm Latin:

Bismillahir r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
Al-rahmāni
r-raḥīm
Maliki dāyyi d-dīn
Iyyāka na’budu wa iyyāk nasta’īn
Ihdinā al-
Ṣlaqīrāṭ ṣ-ṣirāṭīm an’amta ‘alayhim
Ghayril-maghdūbi ‘alayhim wa la-d-ḍāllīn

English Meaning:

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Merciful
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds
, the Merciful, the Merciful Master
of the Day of Judgment.
Only You we worship; and only You we seek help from
. Guide us to the straight path,
the path of those on whom You have bestowed Your favor,
not the path of those on whom You are angry, nor of those who have gone astray.

3. Daily Prayer (Dua)

Muslims also often recite dua (free prayer, not following the pattern of salat), depending on the situation:

Before eating:

In the name of God ( Bismillah )

After eating:

Praise be to Allah

When you wake up:

الْـحَمْـدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdu lillāhil-ladhī aḥyānā ba’da mā amātanā wa ilayhin-nushūr

Praise be to Allah, Who has given us life after He has given us sleep (like temporary death), and to Him is the return.
