Itinerary: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi District – Ho Chi Minh City

Take a morning trip to visit the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, built on the site of the former Norodom Palace. The Independence Palace is a famous landmark of Ho Chi Minh City and was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu. Continue to see the beautiful architectural works from the French colonial period such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, the historic Central Post Office. Next is the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum, which has an extensive display of both Indochina wars.

Have lunch at a local restaurant.

Depart for Cu Chi Tunnels, the trip will take about an hour and a half by bus. Upon arrival, before exploring the tunnels, you will have some brief introductions followed by a video introducing how the tunnels were built and how people survived the harsh conditions of wartime. Then, take your time to explore the remaining area and the tunnel system which includes specially built living areas with kitchens, bedrooms next to other military facilities such as storage, weapons factories, field hospitals and command centers to help anyone living inside the tunnels meet their basic needs. Besides, there are also many hidden traps and dangerous traps inside the maze-like tunnels to serve security purposes during the war. After that, special tea and cassava (food of guerrillas during the war) will be served.

Time to relax or time for those who want to try shooting real guns.

Return to Saigon. End of trip.
