3+ Essential Travel Documents For Foreign Tourists to Vietnam

1. Personal documents – The first necessary travel document
Identity papers (or ID papers) are one of the most necessary travel documents for international tourists when coming to Vietnam. Foreign tourists when making flights to Vietnam need to bring an original. These documents must ensure having images and use value.
Specifically, the types of IDs needed when preparing travel documents are:
- Passport
- Travel pass or loose-leaf visa
- Citizenship card cards (if Vietnam and the country of tourists have signed a treaty or international agreement that allows citizens of the two countries to use citizenship cards instead of passports on each other’s territory)
- Permanent residence card, temporary residence card
- Other papers with immigration and entry value according to law provisions
- In case children do not have their own passports: Information about their full name, date of birth and photos of children must be recorded and pasted into the passport of the legal representative (including parents, father/father/ adoptive mother, guardian).

2. Visa
Currently, Vietnam is implementing a visa exemption policy for citizens from 13 countries, including Japan, Korea, Russia, Denmark, England, Norway, Finland, Sweden, France, Belarus, Belarus, Italy, Germany and Spain. Accordingly, citizens of these countries will be exempted from visa 45 days from the date of entry into Vietnam. This policy will not distinguish the type of passport. Thus, if you are a citizen of one of these thirteen countries, you will not need a visa when traveling to Vietnam. However, you must ensure a valid passport and valuable within 6 months from the date of entry into Vietnam.

Conversely, if not citizens of these countries, visas will be one of the important travel documents you need to prepare. Currently, tourist visas for foreigners entering Vietnam include two types:
- EV Visa – Vietnam E-visa: This visa has a term of 30 days (1 month) to 90 days (3 months).
- DL visa: This is a type of tourist visa issued to foreigners to go on the tour that provided by the travel company in Vietnam. The duration of DL visa is from 30 days (1 month) to 90 days (3 months).
To make a Vietnamese tourist visa, you need to prepare the following important documents:
- Declaration, application for tourist visa NA5
- Original passport of foreigners applying for a visa
- Tourism itinerary, travel program
- Travel company travel license
- Legal records of the travel company (if submitted for the first time)
- The introduction letter of the travel company sent staff to go to procedures

3. Request confirmation of health status – The one of the essential travel documents
Foreign tourists to Vietnam by plane may have to prepare a health certificate – one of the compulsory travel documents when exit from some countries. This can also vary depending on the airline and your health status. Ideally, you should learn carefully about this regulation of your country and the airline before coming to Vietnam to prepare all the necessary travel documents.

4. License of Vietnam Tourism Sightseeing for Foreigners
In the case of transiting Vietnam through international airports, international ports to visit tourism for no more than 15 days, foreign tourists need to have a tourism tourist license in Vietnam. Typically, this travel document will be implemented by a travel company in Vietnam – a tour supply unit for foreign visitors.
According to the current provisions of Vietnamese law, the application for granting a tourism tourist license in Vietnam for foreigners in transit includes:
- 01 Official dispatch for License
- 01 sightseeing and tourism program in Vietnam
- 01 declaration to request a license of tourism sightseeing for foreigners (declare and submit at the port of entry instead of “Vietnam entry application”)
Besides, in this case, you may also be required to show tickets of means of transportation for transition to another country. Therefore, to be careful, you should prepare airline tickets or any other means in your travel documents.
5. Important travel documents’ copy
A copy of the important record is also one of the necessary travel documents that foreign tourists need to prepare when traveling to Vietnam or any other country. A copy of your profile will help you prove your identity and personal information in case your original record is lost or stolen. On the other hand, many places also require visitors to provide this copy to register their accommodation, especially when traveling across the border or carrying out the hotel registration procedures.
In addition to a copy of hand-held travel documents, you should also store important documents by images or scans on mobile phones or emails. This makes it easy for you to access anywhere when needed.

6. Other types of travel documents
