Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Information in 2020:

According to information from the Management of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the opening schedule of Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum in 2020 will take from January to June 14 and from August 16 to the end of December.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum stopped hosting annual visits and maintenance ceremonies from September 4 to December 4.

However, with the approval of the Prime Minister, since 2018, the Management of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum has adjusted the period of periodic renovation of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Works.

Accordingly, the time to start renovations from June 15 to August 15 every year.

Therefore, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum will take a 2-month leave of absence (from June 16 to the end of August 15) for periodical maintenance and repair.

Note that during the period of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the attractions of the Presidential Palace such as stilt houses, fish ponds, Mango Road or Ho Chi Minh Museum are still open to ordinary visitors.

After the renovation period, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was reopened to serve visitors.

What is the opening of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum?

According to the Management of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, it opens in the morning: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Particularly on Monday and Friday will not hold a ceremony.

Opening time of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in 2020 is as follows:

Summer season (from April 1 to October 31): Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open from 7:30 to 10:30.

Particularly for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM.

Winter season (from November 1 to March 31 of the following year): Ho Chi Minh mausoleum is open from 8 am to 11 pm.

Particularly for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open from 8 am to 11:30 pm.

In particular, for major holidays such as Uncle Ho’s birthday, May 19, National Day, September 2 and the first day of the Lunar New Year, if they coincide on Monday or Friday, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is still open.

About Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum:

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Ba Dinh Square is one of the most visited attractions in Hanoi. It is the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh, the most iconic and popular leader of Vietnam, known to his people as ‘Uncle Ho’. His body is preserved here in a glass case at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in central Hanoi (albeit against his wishes).

For visitors, a trip to Uncle Ho’s final resting place can be an extraordinary experience as it is not just an average attraction; it’s a part of a unique history.

Started in 1973, the construction of the mausoleum was modeled on Lenin’s mausoleum in Russia and was first open to the public in 1975. The granite building meant a great deal for many locals as it ensures that their beloved leader ‘lives on forever’.

Security is tight and visitors should dress with respect (no shorts, sleeveless shirts and miniskirts) and everyone has to deposit their bags and cameras before getting in. Visitors are not allowed to stop and hold the constant queue up as the place is constantly busy. Uncle Ho’s remains are sent yearly to Russia for maintenance therefore the mausoleum is closed usually from October onwards. It’s best to recheck with your hotel tour desk before visiting. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
