Where is Cuc Phuong National Park?

Cuc Phuong National Park (or Cuc Phuong forest) is the first national park in Vietnam. A nature reserve and special-use forest located on the boundary of 3 regions of the Northwest, Red River Delta and North Central of 3 provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa.

About 120km south of Hanoi capital, Cuc Phuong National Park is the first national park of Vietnam, established on July 7, 1962, the park covers an area of 22,200 hectares, of which three-quarters are limestone mountains. 300 to 600m above sea level.

Features of Cuc Phuong National Park

Cuc Phuong’s characteristic is tropical rain forest, green all year round the garden has a rich and diverse flora and fauna. With more than 2000 species of plants and animals, there are more than 100 species of mammals, including the langur, which is considered the symbol of Cuc Phuong National Park, 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 300 species of birds.

Cuc Phuong forest has a lot of old trees such as: the 45m high Dang tree with a diameter of 5m with roots floating on the ground running 20m long. The ancient crocodile tree is 45m high with a massively developed root system running more than 20m long. The thousand-year-old tree is a great tree 45m high, 5m in diameter and has a circumference of more than 20 people to hug. On the way to the tree, visitors will encounter giant vines crisscrossing the forest and strangling species.

The seeds germinate in other tree holes. When their roots are attached to the soil, they grow very quickly, gradually squeezing the host plant. In addition, there are Cho trees that are only up to 70m high, with straight and round stems. Time to visit both leaving and returning is nearly 3 hours.

Belonging to karst terrain, Cuc Phuong has many beautiful caves with many values as well as attractive attractions such as: Con Moong Cave: outside the cave door, there is a large rock protruding out like an animal, so it was named is Con Moong cave (the cave of beasts in the Muong language). This is also the residence of the ancient people, and is also an important archaeological site classified as a national monument.

The Crescent Moon Cave is located deep in the forest, looking like a crescent moon from the cave. Nguoi Xua Cave, also known as Dang cave, is the place to keep the remains of residence and burial of the ancient Vietnamese 7500 years ago.

The best time to visit Cuc Phuong National Park

The most suitable time to go to Cuc Phuong National Park is in the dry season (from December to May), when the weather in the forest is very cool. The forest is open from 6am to 10pm. The ticket price is divided into 3 objects:

– Adults: 60,000 VND / person

– Pupil, students: 20,000 VND / person

– Children: 10,000 VND

– Children under 5 years old: free

Some notes when traveling to Cuc Phuong National Park
