Cam Thanh Village

Located 5km from Hoi An’s Old Town, Cam Thanh Village is a village of 30ha nipa palm forest. Once a local shelter for people in war times, the village now is a favorite destination for Hoi An’s visitors. Its state of agriculture, fishing and making handicrafts provides plenty of opportunities to see Vietnam in an authentic way.

Cam Thanh Village has been planting nipa palms to protect itself from the floods of Thu Bon River, as well as storms in monsoon seasons. The forest shelters the whole village provides the ingredient for handicraft making and helps create a stable income for the villagers. The nipa palm forest is full of bird, fishes, etc. and hence, Cam Thanh Village became one of the sources for fresh seafood, vegetable, and rice for the whole Hoi An.

Cam Thanh Village -Eco Tour

Start a great day out riding in the countryside to Cam Thanh Island. See rice farms and buffalo, go in round fishing boats and catch crabs, visit local fresh food markets, have a cooking class and lunch with a local family. A great way to have fun day out and relax and see the real Vietnam.

Pick up  at 8.30am. You start the tour by bicycle or motorbike through Hoi An town then down country roads to see rice paddies and water buffalo and prawn, farmers.

You arrive at Cam Thanh fishing village and join local fishermen in their round boats and paddle through the nipa palm forest waterways where you learn to catch crabs.

After the boat trip, you ride to the local market to see and learn about fresh local herbs, vegetables and seafood.

You then go to a local family house and have a cooking class to learn to cook local cuisine (foods vary with seasons)

After cooking class, you have lunch and have a rest.

You say goodbye to your local family hosts and ride back to Hoi An town.
